Immigration Update: 2025 Parent/Grandparent Sponsorship Program
Government of Canada pauses the acceptance of Parent/Grandparent Sponsorship applications as of January 1st, 2025.
According to an announcement in the Canada Gazette, this year (2025), Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will only be accepting and processing Permanent Residence applications made under the PGP program that were already submitted by the end of 2024.

Based on this pause, it is anticipated that no new ‘Invitations to Apply’ will be sent out, and that the government will not open up the process for new ‘Letters of Interest’.
Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents looking to invite their Parents or Grandparents to Canada will have to explore other options, such as the Supervisa, a standard Temporary Resident Visa (Visitor Visa), or other Family Sponsorship (if eligible).
For more information about the options available, please see the below listed articles previously posted on our website, or you can contact DVCLS at 416-441-1764 ext. 1.
