SUMMARY:Understanding no-fault evictions (CLEO Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:Join DVCLS and CLEO (Community Legal Education Ontario) for this webinar! \nDate: Tuesday\, April 12\, 2026\nTime: 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm\nRegister online here \nOntario’s Residential Tenancies Act allows a landlord to end a tenancy for reasons unrelated to a tenant’s actions. These types of evictions are called no-fault evictions. For example\, a landlord can evict a tenant: \n\nto complete a major renovation\,\nto demolish the building\, or\nbecause they or certain family members would like to live in the rental unit.\n\nLandlords must bring a no-fault eviction in good faith\, but some landlords use them to get new tenants who pay more rent. This is known as a bad faith eviction. \nThis webinar covers: \n\nmunicipal renoviction and demoviction bylaws\nwhat demovictions and renovictions are\, and Form N13\nlandlords’ own-use evictions and Form N12\nwhat to do if a landlord uses a no-fault eviction in bad faith\nhow community workers can advocate for stronger tenant rights\n\nASL interpretation will be available. This webinar will be recorded and available online later. \nSpeakers: \n\nLaura Anonen\, Community Development Worker\, Don Valley Community Legal Services\nMichelle Choe\, Staff Lawyer\, Don Valley Community Legal Services\n\nQuestions for our speakers? Email misha.hossain@cleo.on.ca.
